What’s your wedding engagement story?

So, this week the world learnt of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding engagement story – how he proposed on a cosy night in, earlier this month, while cooking a roast chicken dinner, no less!

A time of celebration

It’s always lovely to hear of happy couples getting engaged.

I, for one, couldn’t be happier for them!

After all, when two people – whoever they are – decide to commit to each other, to getting married and to spend the rest of their lives together, that’s always a cause for celebration, I think.

And in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s case, could two people be any more in love?! (If you haven’t already seen it, check out the BBC interview of them confirming the engagement).

Watching their body language and the way they spoke to each other in the BBC interview…ah, it was so sweet! Clearly, they have fallen deeply in love.

In my view, the news of their engagement to be married is lovely to hear. And I think it’s great for the future of the UK monarchy.

Harry seems like a friendly, normal bloke and I just love that there wasn’t any pretence about the engagement – their wedding engagement story was refreshingly normal. They are clearly just two young people in love and who want to spend the rest of their lives together.

For what it’s worth, I wish him and Meghan all the best in their future lives together.

Getting engaged to be married is an exciting step

Yes, getting engaged is such an exciting time!

I clearly remember when my husband Martyn proposed to me a few years back. It was on Christmas Day, no less.

He’d written ‘Will you marry me?’ on a note placed inside my Christmas cracker.

And when I opened up the (rather suspiciously posh looking) cracker as we came to the end of our Christmas meal, I was delighted. Of course, I said yes immediately!

And we were married last September. Ah, happy memories!

What’s your wedding engagement story?

So, what’s your wedding engagement story? I’d love to know.

Perhaps you recently got engaged?

Or perhaps you’re planning to pop the question to your other half soon – maybe even over Christmas, as Martyn did to me?

The Christmas period is always a popular time for couples to get engaged. So, as ever, I’m expecting to start getting a flurry of enquiries and bookings for my wedding photography service.

In fact, I’ve already had two bookings in the past week.

I love this time of year. Not just because Christmas is coming, but because I can’t wait to meet more lovely engaged couples in the coming months.

Meeting my couples and discovering how they met, when they got engaged and their hopes and plans for their wedding day is part of what I love about my job as a wedding photographer.
